Celebrity power couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor have mysteriously disappeared from television news channels and color supplements of newspapers after the dismal failure of 'Kurbaan' at the box-office.
English news channels like IBN-Live and NDTV are no longer interested in knowing the views of the couple on matters like live-in relationships and have stopped inviting them to their television studios for offering sound-bytes on variety of topics of national and international importance.
Worried at the diminishing coverage received by the couple in the print and electronic media, Saif's mother, Sharmila Tagore, who is also the chairwoman of Censor Board, announced that the couple may marry soon.
The couple, fondly called as 'Saifeena' by tabloids, in deference and imitation of the Hollywood power couple 'Brangelina", has dominated news headlines for several months and have been featured prominently in every film glossy, every TV news channel and every newspaper ever since both of them dumped their respective partners to team up with each other in order to give power-couple starved Indians a sorely-needed desi power couple.
"Brand Saifeena has taken a severe beating due to the flopping of Kurbaan." opined Taran Adarsh, a movie market analyst who earns his bread and butter from analyzing the fluctuating market value of movies and movie stars.
"Unfortunately, Kareena Kapoor made a grave error by dumping Shahid Kapoor who achieved foothold in Bollywood only because he was her boyfriend. But she should have been patient with him and waited at least till the release of Jab We Met. Now with Kameenay under his belt, Shahid Kapoor is inching closer towards the top of the popularity charts and threatening to overtake Saif Ali Khan in brand value. Had Kareena and Shahid still been a couple, the brand value of Shareena would have been today higher than the value of brand Saifeena." said Adarsh.
Taran Adarsh is positive that the wedding plans of the couple may revive interest in the flagging stock of Brand Saifeena. But he cautioned that their marriage would only generate temporary frenzy in the media and the couple will have to adopt a long-term strategy to perpetually stay in news.
"Adoption of poor Ethiopian or Cambodian babies was out of question as long as Saif and Kareena were not married. Now that they are tying the knot very soon, they can plan adoption of economically underprivileged babies from countries whose per capita income is even lesser than India. This will not only help them stay in news for a longer duration of time, but also help generate newer markets for Bollywood to conquer."
